Job Description:

The Blake School seeks an Upper School Reserve Teacher and Reserve Teacher Coordinator for the 2022-23 school year. The main responsibility for this position is to serve as the primary reserve for Upper School faculty. This position is also responsible for coordinating both internal and external reserve teacher coverage as needed. Blake is particularly interested in candidates who will enrich the diversity of identity, lived experience and thinking that makes our community strong and empowers students to engage across differences.

Experience and Skills:

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 

45% Reserve Teacher: 

  • Serves as the primary reserve for coverage of Upper School faculty absences. 
  • Teaches in any classroom within the Upper School as needed.
  • Serves as a study hall proctor and supervisor of advisory or student activities when needed. 

45% Reserve Teacher Coordinator: 

  • Cultivates and maintains a list of reserve teachers who can be called in for coverage when needed. Coordinates reserve teacher coverage for all faculty absences by either covering or arranging appropriate internal or external reserves. 
  • Manages last minute (unplanned) absence requests received the evening before or morning of an absence (requires availability in the evening and early morning). 
  • Ensures reserve teachers have the appropriate class lists, sub plans and materials for a successful day. Communicates with the business office to ensure proper payment of reserve teachers as well as tracking time off for US faculty. 
  • Updates and keeps a clear and accurate reserve calendar for the year. 
  • Anticipates absences based on submitted absence requests, departmental workshops, professional development, etc. 

10% Other Duties: 

  • Assists the Assistant Upper School Director in coordinating, planning and executing all activities related to the Blake School AP testing registration and administration process. 
  • Assists the Upper School office team and administration with additional tasks and projects as needed.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • College degree 
  • Some previous teaching experience 
  • Positive, supportive, flexible personality 
  • A good problem-solver and collaborator 
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Experience using Google Suite and comfort/interest in using online databases and technology. Office hours are 7:30am-3:30pm each day when school is in session.
