Job Description:

The Blake School seeks an organized, creative and joyful person for this interim, full-time position from Jan. 2 through June 9, 2023. The Lower School Reserve Teacher and Substitute Coordinator will serve as a substitute on both Lower School campuses. Other responsibilities include coordination of substitute teacher assignments (day and evening) and other duties as assigned. This interim position is not eligible for benefits.

The ideal candidate will bring skill in working in early childhood and elementary settings, the ability to thrive in a dynamic and complex environment and a constructivist approach to education. Blake is particularly interested in candidates who will enrich the diversity of identity, lived experience and thinking that makes a community strong and empowers students to engage across differences.

The Blake Lower School is housed on two campuses 13 miles apart in the western suburbs of Minneapolis: the Blake campus in Hopkins and the Highcroft campus in Wayzata. The Lower School consists of seven grade levels, pre-kindergarten through five, with 490 students and 85 employees.

Candidates should be able to drive between Lower School campuses––often on the same day––and have the flexibility to check email and contact substitutes by phone and email in both the early morning (~6:45am) and evening (~9 pm). Blake will reimburse both mileage and a portion of cell phone expenses (or provide a school cell phone, based on preference).
