Job Description:

The Blake School is looking for an engaging and knowledgeable Middle School Learning Specialist to join our outstanding and increasingly diverse community for the 2023-24 school year. An undergraduate degree in special education or a related field is required; an advanced degree or work toward an advanced degree is preferred. 

A successful candidate will be energized by working with middle school students, demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and support the mission of T he Blake School. Reporting to the Middle School Director and working in close collaboration with the Director of Learning Support Services, the learning specialist will be responsible for supporting students and teachers through coaching and direct instruction.

Primary responsibilities include: managing a caseload of six th, seven th and eigh th grade students with learning differences; developing accommodation plans based on the interpretation of psycho-educational evaluations; communicating student needs and progress; and collaborating with families, teachers   and administrators to ensure the success of each child. Other responsibilities include maintaining documentation, researching best practices in special education (e.g. implementation of assistive technology) and partnering with the learning support team.
