Job Description:

The Blake School seeks a highly collaborative and skilled learning support interventionist eager to help lower school students develop confidence and academic skills. The learning support department strives to support students in pursuing their educational goals by providing appropriate academic support and accommodations for the present, as well as “preparing for college, lifelong learning and purposeful lives as community and global citizens.” The learning support team aspires to draw from best practices in supporting students with their reading, written expression and mathematical skills. We are eager to meet candidates who have experience working with elementary-aged students to foster a community committed to pluralism, curiosity and empathy.

This is a part-time position, 20 hours per week, for the 2024-25 school year. The learning support interventionist (LSI) is responsible for administering interventions for lower school students' basic reading, math and writing skills. This includes administering and interpreting academic screenings to determine academic skill needs. The LSI works closely with the learning specialist in supporting students with academic needs and/or learning differences. The LSI understands lower school students' developmental needs and variations and embraces working with children with learning differences.

Minimum qualifications for this position include at least three years of experience in a lower school classroom or interventionist setting and a bachelor's degree in education or a related field. Specialized skills in reading, writing and mathematics instruction or a willingness to attend professional development to increase these skills are also desired. Familiarity with independent schools is preferred.

The search committee will begin reviewing resumes immediately. Blake will typically cover the travel and lodging costs for finalist candidates visiting from out of town.
