The Blake School seeks to hire energetic and enthusiastic lead counselors for the Camp Acoma Cubs, Bears, Adventure & Leaders in Training day camps. Camp Acoma serves children ages 4 -13 (or entering pre-kindergarten through seventh grade) from Blake and the larger Twin Cities community. Acoma operates over a nine-week period from June 3 - August 2, 2019. There will be one week of staff training followed by eight weeks with campers at the Wayzata campus. Camp begins at 8:30 a.m. each day and concludes at 3:30 p.m. with Extended Day wrapping around the program from 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. The Bears, Adventure & Leaders in Training programs serve 80 - 100 children ages 5 - 13 while the Cubs program serves 20 - 35 children ages 4 - 5.
Camp Acoma lead counselors are responsible for assisting directors in the design and implementation of all arts, technology, athletic, recreational and field trip activities. Supervisory responsibilities include managing counseling and Extended Day staff. Lead counselors report to the Acoma directors to ensure a safe, fun, enriching and nurturing environment for all campers.
Experience in teaching children ages 4 - 13 and day/recreational camp experience is preferred. Candidates with experience in lifeguarding, swim instruction, visual & performing arts and technology instruction are desired. Candidates with experience in leading team building and adventure based learning for older campers (ages 8 - 13) are also encouraged to apply.
